|Rees Family Letters||Letter 17||1937||Margaret Rees Blake, Arkansas, to Lewis Caleb Morgan, Kansas|
|Margaret Rees Blake (75) is Catherine Rees Morgan's next-older sister. Lewis Caleb Morgan (45) (usually called L. C. or Caleb, not Lewis) is Catherine's oldest surviving son. This letter was written 18 months after Catherine died.|
Hot Springs, Ark.Dear Caleb:
Feb. 28, 1937.
|Cousin Martha probably is Martha Rees Williams, a daughter of Stephen Rees (who was a brother of Catherine's father Caleb). Martha was about 66 at this time.||
I am enclosing you a list of names that may prove helpful to you in building your family tree. This tabulation was prepared for me by Cousin Martha of Wales.
You see that it carries you back to your great grandparents William and Mary Rees. Your grandfather Caleb Rees (your mother's father and mine) was the youngest of ten children - 8 sons and 2 daughters.
|David Rees was an older brother of Margaret's father Caleb Rees.||
The David Rees in the list, marked "unknown" left home one evening on horseback when a mere lad and was never heard of again.
|After Caleb Rees died, Rachel James Rees married Morris Griffiths.||
Your maternal grandmother Rachel Rees Griffiths was Rachel James before her marriage to Caleb Rees. Her parents were David and Elizabeth James.
So now you have the list on both branches back to your great grand parents.
|Ethel Fay House Morgan was L. C. Morgan's wife.||
I think I have failed thus far to thank you and dear Fay for your lovely & useful Christmas package.With ever best wishes & love, I am your affectionate
