Michael James Barnett    1840–1920  33rd Illinois Veteran Volunteer Infantry

History of the Thirty-Third Illinois Veteran Volunteer Infantry...1861 to 1865

This volume, published in 1902 by "the Regimental Association, and printed by "the Press of the Gibson Courier, Gibson City, Ill.", recounts the history of the volunteer regiment in which Michael James Barnett served throughout the Civil War. He started as a Private, and rose to the rank of Corporal in Company K of the 33rd.

In its 288 pages, the book includes 73 pages of history of the Regiment, 115 pages of activities and rosters of each of the 10 Companies of the Regiment, with the remaining pages having various rosters and personal accounts of some of the activities of the Regiment and its soldiers.

A copy of the hard-bound volume passed from William R. Barnett to C. C. Barnett, and then to one of C. C. Barnett's daughters, Margaret Jane Morgan. Mrs. Morgan provided it to me for scanning and publishing here.

Enlarged copy of a 3" high portrait on page 272.
